About the player
Carlos Chena's route to Cerro Porteño's first team started with a 68-kilometre trip from Caacupé to Ypané for a trial with the Fundación Azulgrana. He was 14 at the time and, once accepted into the youth system, spent eight months living in the club's pension to keep training without the daily journey home.
That patience paid off on 16 August 2026, when Chena made his official debut for the first team against Sportivo San Lorenzo, starting as a central midfielder in a match Cerro Porteño won 1-0 in the Clausura 2026. He has since gone on to make eight appearances for the senior side.
Chena signed his first professional contract with the club that raised him, arriving without any transfer fee attached.
