About the player
Montevideo gave Mauro Andrés da Luz Regalado, known as 'Rayo', his first steps in football, through the youth ranks at Club Málaga before spells at Club Oriental de Football and Club Atlético Peñarol. He made his senior bow with Club Oriental in the Segunda División Amateur, then signed for River Plate of Uruguay in early 2016, where he made his professional debut that August against Montevideo Wanderers in a 1–1 draw. Over three seasons at River Plate he made 73 appearances and scored 10 goals, and among them was an equalizer against Santos in the Copa Sudamericana in 2019.
A loan to Colón de Santa Fe in Argentina followed, where he scored in the Copa Argentina against Sol de Mayo, before a brief return to River Plate.
Peruvian football has since become the main stage of his career. A year with ADT de Tarma added 6 more goals before a move to Aldosivi in Argentina, where he wore the number 77 shirt in three appearances. He has since returned to Atlético Grau. Da Luz has never been capped by Uruguay at senior level.
