Al Wihdat

Al-Wehdat go into this season still measured against a domestic record no other Jordanian club can match, with the Green Giant nickname earned over decades of collecting silverware rather than given lightly. Seventeen Jordanian Pro League titles sit alongside thirteen FA Cups, and that gap between Al-Wehdat and everyone else in Jordan is the standard each campaign gets judged against.

The club grew out of the Al-Wehdat Palestinian refugee camp in Amman, founded on 10 March 1956 as a youth centre with backing from UNRWA before taking its current name in 1974. That origin has never been incidental: Al-Wehdat is regarded as a symbol of Palestinian identity and nationalism in Jordan, an association strong enough that the government forced a rename to Al-Diffatain Sports Club between 1986 and 1989, in the tense aftermath of Black September, before the old name returned.

Green shirts, red shorts and white socks have stayed the uniform through all of it. Matches against Al-Faisaly carry their own weight beyond the table, and Al-Wehdat's list of Super Cups and FA Shields has mostly been assembled with that rivalry as the backdrop.
