Yichun Grand Tiger

The sponsor came first in the title, the city second, the tiger last, and over the next three years all three moved around. By 2021 the mining reference had been dropped and the club played as Yichun Grand Tiger.

The season that made it worth writing about was 2020. Yichun came through the Chinese Champions League, the country's fourth tier and the entry point for amateur and semi-professional sides trying to get into the league system. The semi-final against Hebei Jingying Zhihai settled it: the win carried the club to the title and, more usefully, promotion into China League Two.

Home was the Yichun Sports Center.

Then came the part that has become routine in Chinese football. From 2022 the club dropped the city from its name altogether and spent three seasons as Jiangxi Dark Horse Junior. In 2025 it left Jiangxi entirely, moving south-east to Wenzhou in Zhejiang and registering as Wenzhou Professional.

Which leaves the rivalry question awkward. The nearest thing Yichun had to an enemy was Hebei Jingying Zhihai, and only for ninety minutes in a knockout tie that both clubs needed to win to go up.
