The Russian Handball Super Cup is a domestic competition organized by the Russian Handball Federation. It brings together the Champion of the previous season’s Russian Super League and the Winner of the previous season’s Russian Cup for a single match. This fixture serves as a curtain-raiser for the national championship. The competition exists in two parallel categories: Men’s and Women’s. Both were established in 2014 and share an identical format.
Distinction from Other Competitions: The Super Cup is distinct from the Russian Handball Cup (Kubok Rossii). The Russian Cup is a major, season-long knockout tournament involving many teams (including lower-division sides) and concluding in a "Final Four" in the spring. It holds higher prestige as a primary domestic trophy. The Super Cup is a minor trophy, a single match between the two most successful teams of the prior year. There are no Super Cup competitions for youth, junior, or beach handball categories in Russia.
Men's Competition: Chekhovskiye Medvedi is the most successful club in the men's tournament, having won the title 9 times consecutively from 2014 to 2022. CSKA Moscow broke this streak by winning in 2023, 2024, and 2025, bringing their total to 4 titles. As of the 2025 season, CSKA Moscow is the current holder. The tournament has had title sponsors: VKontakte (2014–2017) and Olimp (2018–present), making it officially known as the "Olimp Super Cup of Russia" in recent years.
Women's Competition: Rostov-Don is the dominant force in the women's Super Cup, with 8 titles (2015–2021 and 2025). CSKA Moscow has won 3 times (2022, 2023, 2024), and Zvezda Zvenigorod won the inaugural 2014 edition.
