Atlético Barinas defeated Zamora 3-1 in the Venezuelan Cup first round Group B clash on Tuesday evening. The home side took control early and never looked back as they moved level on points with the visitors at the top of the standings.

Y. Osorio opened the scoring in the 42nd minute before doubling his tally just five minutes into the second half. To be fair, the pace of those two goals caught Zamora flat-footed and changed the complexion of the contest entirely.

J. Flores pulled one back for the visitors in the 59th minute, but J. Beltran restored the two-goal advantage with a seventh goal of the evening. By then Barinas had already established a cushion that would prove decisive.

The match descended into chaos late on. G. Estasio received a red card in the 80th minute, and two further dismissals followed at 90+2 and 90+5, leaving Zamora to finish with nine men and no hope of recovery.

Barinas registered 7 shots on target from 11 attempts with 53 per cent possession, while Zamora managed 4 shots on target from 8 attempts. The visitors won 7 corners to the hosts' 1, but that dominance never translated into meaningful chances.
