Zlín and RK Koprivnica met in the Extraliga on 20 September, with the hosts taking a 29-22 victory. It was a tight affair from the opening whistle, and here's the thing — the scoreline tells only half the story. Both sides came out looking for rhythm rather than dominance, each testing the other's structure before committing to attack.
Zlín came in unblemished from their first two fixtures, two draws leaving them eleventh on zero points. Koprivnica sat eighth after recording a win and a draw, sitting on two points. The contrast in form was there for anyone watching, by then. The visitors had shown they could grind out results when needed.
The first period saw both teams exchange chances without either breaking clear. Zlín held their shape defensively, while Koprivnica worked the ball wide to find gaps. The visitors took a narrow lead into the interval, but it was touch and go whether they could maintain it.
After the break, Zlín turned it around. They pressed higher up the court, forcing errors from a Koprivnica side that looked increasingly fatigued. The hosts pulled ahead through sustained pressure rather than individual brilliance, and the momentum shifted decisively in their favour.
Koprivnica fought back in the third period, but Zlín's deeper squad showed its worth. The hosts controlled the tempo, letting the game flow through their hands rather than chasing every loose ball. By the final whistle, the margin was clear enough to satisfy even the cautious observer.
The result keeps Zlín in contention despite their slow start, while Koprivnica's unbeaten run continues. Both sides now have one win and one draw between them, with the home side having played an extra fixture. The table remains fluid, and this was another step in that direction.
