Nové Veselí sit in the Czech handball Extraliga, a place they earned rather than inherited. A run in the EHF Challenge Cup brought a last-16 exit in 2019/20, the high point of three European campaigns so far.
The domestic side of the club's history turns on 2008, when it reached the Czech Cup final and lost to KH Kopřivnice 33:29. Locally, the fixture that matters is against HC ROBE Zubří, a regional derby that carries no grand nickname but plenty of history between the two.
Jan Běloch runs the first team and, alongside that, coaches the Czech Junior National Team.
