Alvaro Busso

Álvaro Busso came through the youth ranks at Vélez Sarsfield and has never worn another club's shirt. He worked his way up through the club's U20 side before spending the 2024–2025 spell with the reserve team, Vélez Sarsfield II, and was promoted to the first-team squad in January 2025.

Since then he has stood in as backup, named among the substitutes for Liga Profesional fixtures against River Plate and Gimnasia La Plata without being called into action. A senior debut is still awaited, but the goalkeeper has already collected silverware with the group: he was part of the Vélez Sarsfield squad that won the 2025 Supercopa Argentina and the 2025 Super Copa Internacional.

His clearest mark on a match so far came with the reserves rather than the first team. Busso started in goal as Vélez Sarsfield II beat San Lorenzo 3-1 after extra time to lift the 2025 Copa Proyección.

He has also worn the colours of Argentina at youth level, called up to the Argentina U20 side for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Morocco. For now, competition for the gloves at Vélez Sarsfield keeps him waiting for his first minutes among the seniors, with his development continuing largely out of the first-team spotlight.
