Benjamin Meliado

Benjamín Mellado came through Huachipato's youth ranks and made the step up to the first team without ever needing a move to get there. That absence of a move is itself part of his story so far: no fee has ever been paid for him.

Mellado has featured for Huachipato in the Chilean Primera División, in the Copa Chile and in the Copa Sudamericana. He has made ten appearances for the club, though the detail of those matches has not been laid out publicly in the same way.

There is no indication that he has yet been called up to any of Chile's youth national sides or to the senior team, so his footballing story remains, for now, one written entirely in Huachipato colours. Nor has he collected any individual honours to date. What stands out is the straightforward shape of his path: born in Santa Juana, developed at Huachipato, and handed a debut there.
