Fernando David Cardozo Paniagua

Fernando Cardozo came through Olimpia's youth academy and made his first-team debut in the Paraguayan Primera División in 2017. Two loan spells abroad followed as he developed: first at Boavista in Portugal's Primeira Liga during the 2019-2020 season, then at Vizela in the Segunda Liga, where he played 20 matches in 2020-2021. He returned to Olimpia permanently in July 2021 and became a regular contributor to a period of sustained success, winning the Primera División in the Apertura and Clausura of 2018 and again in the Clausura of 2022, alongside the Copa Paraguay and Supercopa Paraguay in 2021.

In July 2024, Newell's Old Boys signed him from Olimpia, acquiring half of his economic rights and tying him to a contract running until December 2027. He settled into the Argentine Primera División, making 26 appearances and scoring three goals across the 2024-2025 season. That spell proved to be an interlude rather than a permanent move: in July 2025, he was loaned back to Olimpia for the 2025-2026 campaign, where he has since made over 20 appearances and scored five goals.

Cardozo has also represented Paraguay at every youth level, picking up caps and goals for the under-17, under-20 and under-23 sides between 2017 and 2024. He plays right winger or forward.
