Víctor Gustavo Velázquez Ramos

Víctor Gustavo Velázquez Ramos came through the Cerro Porteño academy and made his senior debut with the club's reserve side in Presidente Franco. The move that shaped his early career, though, came with Nacional Asunción, whom he joined in 2014 and with whom he reached the final of that year's Copa Libertadores, finishing runners-up. He returned to Cerro Porteño in 2016, and the following year won the Torneo Clausura with the club.

A second spell at Nacional followed in 2018 before Velázquez left Paraguay altogether, moving to Mexico in 2019, first on loan at Lobos BUAP and then permanently at FC Juárez, where he stayed until 2022. He then crossed to Argentina on loan to Newell's Old Boys, remaining there through 2024. In January 2025 he returned to Cerro Porteño on a free transfer, and later that year won both the Torneo Clausura and the Supercopa Paraguay with the club.

Velázquez made his international debut for Paraguay on 7 June 2024 in a friendly against Peru, and scored his first goal for the national side nine days later in a 1–0 win over Panama. He was named in Paraguay's squad for the 2024 Copa América. He went on to make the squad for the 2026 World Cup wearing the number 2 shirt, and started the Round of 16 match against France, a game remembered for a penalty-area challenge on Kylian Mbappé that led to the spot-kick from which France scored the winning goal.
