About the player
Lanús won the 2025 Copa Sudamericana with Lautaro Morales in goal, and it was his hands that decided it: in the penalty shootout against Atlético Mineiro, he saved three spot-kicks to hand the club the title.
Morales came through Lanús's own academy, joining as a boy and working through the ranks before signing his first professional contract and making his senior debut for the club in October 2020. Rather than settling straight into the first-team goal, he spent the following seasons out on loan, first at Newell's Old Boys, then at Talleres, gaining experience before later loan spells took him to Universidad Central and Tigre.
His progress had already been recognised at international level before the Copa Sudamericana final made him a wider name: he was part of Argentina's under-20 squad in 2019 and was later included in the under-23 group for the Tokyo Olympics.
