Martim Alexandre Costa Marques

Martim Marques came through Sporting CP's academy, joining as a boy in 2011 and staying more than a decade, though his run-outs for the club's B side in the 3ª Liga amounted to just four appearances without a goal. That relative scarcity of first-team football did not deter FC Lugano, who paid €300,000 for the defender in June 2023 and tied him down to a four-year deal.

The move has paid off in playing time if not yet in silverware. Marques has made 58 appearances for Lugano's first team in the Swiss Super League, scoring three goals.

Internationally, Marques has moved steadily through Portugal's youth ranks, from 11 caps at Under-18 level to 12 at Under-19 and seven so far at Under-20, with one goal to his name.

Lugano finished second in the Swiss Super League in 2023–24 and were beaten by Servette in that season's Swiss Cup final. The following campaign, 2024–25, brought a more modest fourth-place finish in the league. Major titles and individual honours have so far eluded him, both with club and country.
