Nelson Avelino Amarilla Bogado

Nelson Amarilla came through the youth ranks at Guaraní and made his professional debut there, and by 2010 he had a Paraguayan Primera División Apertura title to his name with the club. What followed was a steady tour of Paraguayan football: short spells at Sport Colombia and General Caballero ZC, two separate stints at Sportivo Trinidense either side of a season with River Plate, all played out as a centre-back rather than a headline act.

The turning point came in March 2018, when he crossed into Bolivian football on a free transfer to Guabirá. He naturalised as Bolivian along the way, though it never translated into international recognition — he has not won a senior cap for either Paraguay or Bolivia. From Guabirá he moved on to Club Aurora in January 2023, again as a free agent, staying until the middle of 2025.

That pattern repeated itself once more in July 2025, when Amarilla joined Nacional Potosí on another free transfer. The move paid off almost immediately: with the club, he won the Copa Bolivia that year.
