About the player
Sebastián Mella came through Huachipato's youth academy, working his way up through the club's ranks before signing his first professional contract. The goalkeeper made his senior debut in the Copa Chile on 31 August 2024, a first taste of first-team football that came before any appearance in the league. Through the rest of that campaign he remained a cup-competition figure, with a league debut still to come.
Huachipato's faith in him was rewarded on the biggest domestic stage available to a cup goalkeeper: Mella was part of the squad that won the Copa Chile in 2025. It marked the clearest high point yet in a career spent entirely within the same club, from youth football through to the senior squad, without a transfer of any kind to his name.
