About the player
Yahir Salazar came through the Universidad de Chile academy, which he joined in 2016, and made his senior debut for the club on 30 October 2022 in a 4-0 away defeat to Huachipato under coach Diego López. Chances at the Santiago club proved scarce afterwards, and rather than sit on the fringes he has spent the years since out on loan.
Huachipato took him in 2023, though that loan was cut short in August. A move to San Luis de Quillota followed in 2024, giving him regular football in the Primera B, before a spell at Audax Italiano in 2025, where he wore the number 32 shirt. Each of those moves went through without a transfer fee. In January 2026 he joined Deportes La Serena, again on loan.
A left-footed full-back, Salazar has also been capped by Chile at youth level. He turned out for the Chile under-20 side at the 2022 South American Games and went on to feature in the South American U-20 Championship in both 2023 and 2025.
