Two Hofuf clubs, Al-Ittihad Al-Sharqi and Al-Okhowa, merged in 1976 to form one side, and it kept the Al-Okhowa name only briefly before taking Al Jeel — "The Generation" — for itself. The name has stuck to Al-Ahsa's second club ever since.
It is the academy that has delivered what the first team has not: the Under-17 First Division League and the Under-16 Premier League, both won in 2017-18. Marshed Al-Otaibi came through that academy and went on to Al Hilal and the Saudi national team, and his name is still the one Hofuf mentions first.
