There is no derby with a name of its own here, only geography with a gap in it.

The club grew out of Lørenskog in 1931, and handball became the section it is known for. The promotion earned in 2024/25 changed that: 47 points took the 1. Divisjon title and sent the team up to REMA 1000-ligaen, the country's top tier, for 2025/26.

The move to Fjellhamar Arena in 2023 gave the team a proper home after years at Lørenskoghallen.

The name people remember from Fjellhammer is Stine Oftedal , who wore the club's shirt for a single season, 2007/08, before Stabæk took her on.
