«ÓKC»
The hall in Ózd carries the name of a player, not a sponsor. Marosi István was the top scorer in Hungary's first division in 1959 and again in 1966, at a time when the town's handball belonged to the steelworkers' sports society, Ózdi Kohász. The Marosi István Municipal Sports Hall holds 1,000 people, 600 of them seated and 400 standing, and it is where ÓKC, now ÓAM-Ózdi KC, play their home games in red and blue.
Ózdi Kohász had been established in 1909 as Ózdi Vasas, and its handball section played in the top flight, the Nemzeti Bajnokság I, from 1957 until 1993. In 1971 the men won the second-tier NB I/B and took the Avas Cup in Miskolc. Petróczi Lajos coached the side in several spells between 1964 and 1981, and Závodszki István took charge in 1987 and again from 1991 to 1998.
The current club was formed in 1993, when handball split away from the parent body. That parent body was dissolved in 2003, so the handball club is what remained of it. The new side started in the second tier, and in 1995–96 it won the NB I/B Kelet, the eastern group, and went up to the top flight. Serghei Krasnii, the league's top scorer in 1993–94, scored his goals in the club's first season.
The club finished second in the eastern group in 2001–02 and again in 2005–06. It has not won the Hungarian Cup or the national championship. Its old rivalry was with Borsodi Bányász, later Nyíregyháza BSE.
