Turda sits in Cluj County.

Promotion to the Liga Națională came in 2011, and the club has stayed there ever since. Third place in the league, reached in 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2019, has been as close as it has come to the domestic title, though a Romanian Cup final appearance followed in 2025, lost to Dinamo București.

Europe is where the club's name is best known. It reached the EHF Challenge Cup final in 2017 and lost to Sporting CP, then went back the following year and won it, beating AEK Athens home and away in 2018.

Flaviu Sâsâeac has run the club since 2003.

The team plays now at the Sala Polivalentă Nova PG Arena, which opened in 2023 and holds 3,450, having outgrown the Sala Gheorghe Barițiu it used from 2007.
