Willisau Women

In the 1. Liga, STV Willisau's women have made the final round a habit, qualifying for it again in both the 2024/25 and 2025/26 seasons.

None of that has come with a trophy. STV Willisau Frauen have never taken a Swiss Cup or a national title. The handball section's own founding date has been lost somewhere inside the wider STV Willisau association, which goes back to 1869, long before anyone in Willisau was playing indoor handball; the chronicles that survive only pick the section up from 1999.

What does carry weight locally is the meeting with SG Malters/Kriens, played as a derby in the proper sense. Home games are played in yellow and red, in front of a crowd capped at 1,000 inside the Sporthalle BBZ Willisau.
