About

The Slovak Ice Hockey Cup serves as the primary domestic knockout tournament for senior men's hockey in Slovakia. Organized by the Slovak Ice Hockey Federation (SZĽH), the competition operates as a single-elimination event where ties are settled through overtime or shootouts. The modern iteration began in the 2020/2021 season, branded initially as the Tipsport Kaufland Cup, before adopting its current identity. This revival followed a period where no national cup existed between 1997 and 2020, bridging a gap left by the original Slovenský pohár held from 1993 to 1997. MHC MsŽ Žilina stands as the dominant force in the contemporary era, securing four titles including the most recent 2025/2026 championship. They claimed their latest victory by defeating HC 19 Humenné in the final match. The tournament field includes participants from the top-tier Tipsport Extraliga, the second-tier Tipos Slovenská hokejová liga (SHL), and lower divisions. In the 2025/2026 season, fifteen teams competed in a format consisting of a Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and Final. Sponsorship for the event comes from JOJ Šport and Tipso. While the winner does not receive a berth in the IIHF Continental Cup, qualification for that European competition remains linked to league standings. The Slovak Cup is distinguished from the Vladimír Dzurilla Cup, which is awarded to the Slovak Extraliga playoff champion.

The Slovak Ice Hockey Cup is the senior men's domestic knockout cup competition in Slovakia, organized by the Slovak Ice Hockey Federation (SZĽH).

The modern iteration was founded in the 2020/2021 season under the name Tipsport Kaufland Cup, described by the SZĽH as a "loose continuation" of the original Slovenský pohár held from 1993 to 1997.

In the 2025/2026 season, 15 teams participated in a pure single-elimination knockout format (Round of 16, Quarterfinals, Semifinals, Final), with ties decided by single matches, overtime, and shootouts.

The most successful club in the modern era is MHC MsŽ Žilina (Vlci Žilina), with four titles (2021/22, 2023/24, 2024/25, 2025/26).

The current reigning champion (2025/26) is MHC MsŽ Žilina, who defeated HC 19 Humenné in the final.

The winner does not qualify for the IIHF Continental Cup; qualification is based on league standings (Extraliga or 1. Liga champions).
