Trnje maintain perfect start with victory over Biellarvar
Trnje moved top of the Second NL with a 2-0 win against Biellarvar on Thursday evening. The away side took control after the break when T. Baltic found the net in the 59th minute. And here's the thing — Biellarvar had looked comfortable enough in the first half, but Trnje changed their approach at the interval.
Baltic's opener came from a quick counter-attack, and he did not travel to make up the numbers. The striker cut inside from the right before firing low past the Biellarvar goalkeeper. To be fair, the home defence had been holding its shape until that moment.
N. Gataric doubled the advantage in the 81st minute, and by then Biellarvar were playing the second half a man up without the ball. The away captain latched onto a misplaced pass and finished clinically. Things came to a head when Biellarvar pushed for a consolation, but Trnje camped in the final third instead.
What struck me watching from the stands was how Trnje let the game flow rather than chasing it. They knew they were ahead and played the game with their heads. Biellarvar ran the show in possession but could not break through a disciplined away side.
The result puts Trnje top of the table with six points from two matches, while Biellarvar sit ninth with three. The visitors have not dropped a point all season and are weighing up a move toward more aggressive play. Biellarvar will look to bounce back when their next fixture arrives.
