Rhylway beat BSS Sporting 2-0 away from home
Rhylway took all three points on the road against BSS Sporting on Sunday, winning 2-0 in the Calcutta Premier Division regular season. The visitors had been struggling of late, losing four of their last five matches including a heavy 4-0 defeat to Calcutta Customs. By then, the result felt inevitable.
BSS Sporting arrived in better shape, having won two of their previous three games with a 4-1 victory over Bidhan Nagar and a 3-1 win against George Telegraph. To be fair, they had also drawn with East Bengal 3-3 and Calcutta Customs 1-1. The hosts were sitting seventeenth with twelve points from eleven games.
Rhylway moved up to fifteenth place with fourteen points, closing the gap on the seventeenth-placed hosts. The two sides had drawn 0-0 in their previous meeting back in August 2025. And here's the thing — this time Rhylway found the net twice while keeping a clean sheet.
The result ends a run of poor form for Rhylway, who had not won since beating Calcutta Ghat 2-1 on July 16th. BSS Sporting's win streak came to an abrupt halt after back-to-back victories. Neither side has much room to manoeuvre in the table.
With five defeats each already logged, both clubs are fighting to avoid the drop. Rhylway's away win puts them two points clear of BSS Sporting in what remains a tight struggle in the lower reaches of the standings.
