BSS Sporting

The ground is not even in the same city. BSS Sporting play their home fixtures at the Sailen Manna Stadium in Howrah, held by the Howrah Municipal Corporation and holding 15,000.

What the club did with its first three seasons is the reason anyone outside Behala knows the name. Founded in 2015, it won the CFL Third Division in 2015–16, the Second Division in 2016–17 and the First Division in 2017–18 — and arrived in the Premier Division, the top tier of football in West Bengal, before its fourth birthday. The Trades Cup came in 2017, in the middle of that run.

The climb has not been repeated at the top level. A quarter-final in 2020–21 remains the best of it; seventh place in 2022–23 and ninth in 2023–24 give the honest measure. The club has entered the IFA Shield since 2020, and in 2021 held Gokulam Kerala FC — an I-League side — to a draw, with Subhankar Adhikary named man of the match. A year on from that, Tirthankar Sarkar, once an India youth international, scored straight from a corner against Railway FC.

The Republic Cup at Lumding, won in 2023, took the team out of Bengal and into Assam for the week.

Jayanta Chakraborty owns the club. The shirts are light blue with orange, white and green away, and on match days the crowd arrives at a Howrah ground carrying the name of a district on the far bank.
