Sando beat Broki 2:1 in the opening Group Stage-1 match of the CONCACAF Caribbean Club Championship on 6 August. The hosts held on after S. Henry's second-half strike, sending the visitors away empty-handed in their first outing.
Broki took the lead through S. Cairo in the 35th minute, a well-taken effort that caught the home side off guard. By then the game had settled into a rhythm, and Sando looked for a way back into it. The breakthrough came on the half-time whistle when L. Phillip converted a penalty in the 45+1st minute.
There was a quick substitution for Sando at 46, with J. A. Pascall coming on as the second half began. Sando pushed forward and S. Henry found the net in the 65th minute to turn the tie around. He was replaced seven minutes later, perhaps to preserve the lead.
Three more yellow cards followed for Sando — A. Belfor at 81, F. Singodikromo at 84, and Marcos David at 86 — as the game tightened. The hosts saw off Broki's pressure, with substitutions for Warian Ameixa and Marcos David in the final minutes.
Sando kept 54 per cent possession and registered 103 attacks against Broki's 96, though the visitors earned more corners, six to four. Both sides stayed disciplined with no red cards, but Sando accumulated three yellows compared to Broki's one.
The result gives Sando three points from their first Group Stage-1 fixture, while Broki will need to regroup. The hosts enter the next round with momentum, the visitors with work to do.
