KAMAZ secured a narrow 1-0 victory away to Leningradets in the First League, Regular Season round nine on Friday. R. Tkachuk broke the deadlock in the nineteenth minute with a finish that proved decisive. The result lifts KAMAZ off the bottom of the table while Leningradets remain in sixteenth place.
KAMAZ took the lead when Tkachuk found space in the box and fired past the goalkeeper. Leningradets pushed for an equaliser but struggled to create clear chances despite holding fifty-four per cent of possession. KAMAZ defended resolutely and looked dangerous on the counter.
Discipline became an issue for the hosts as K. Isaev received two yellow cards within twenty-three minutes. The first came in the eighty-fourth minute, and the second just three minutes later saw him sent off. K. Morozov had already picked up a booking in the forty-first minute for Leningradets.
Both managers made several changes during the second half. Leningradets brought on A. Kulishev and O. Kenfak at the break, while KAMAZ introduced V. Semenov in the sixty-fourth minute. Further substitutions followed at sixty-seven and eighty-one minutes as both sides looked to change the game.
Statistically, the match was evenly balanced. Leningradets registered four shots on target against KAMAZ's four, while the visitors claimed more corners with nine to six. Both teams had similar numbers of shots off target, though KAMAZ managed five compared to three.
The win gives KAMAZ five points from nine games, moving them level on points with tenth place but still on goal difference. Leningradets collect six points from eight matches and remain three points adrift of safety. Neither side can afford another slip in what promises to be a challenging campaign.
