Noivud secured a 4:3 victory over Hannover Scorpions in the Oberliga North on Sunday evening. The hosts turned around a result that many expected to go the other way, finishing stronger despite the visitors arriving as favourites.
We had backed the away side with 62 per cent confidence, but the match refused to follow that script. Hannover dominated possession in the opening periods but could not convert pressure into goals, while Noivud stayed compact and punished them from a corner when it mattered most.
The visitors have shown flashes of brilliance this season — a 6:0 demolition of Herner and a 5:2 win over Hannover — yet they also dropped points badly against Duisburg and lost 5:8 at Tilburg. Noivud similarly cannot string results together, having gone 1:6 at Leipzig and 4:5 at Halle in their last three outings.
Both sides sit on zero points after seven games, which tells us very little about the table at this stage of the season. What does matter is that Noivud extended their unbeaten run to eight matches in head-to-head encounters, even if the overall picture remains unsettled.
The result keeps both teams within striking distance of each other in the standings, though the real test will come when they face the league leaders in their next fixtures. For now, Noivud can take pride in holding their nerve against a side that had the game won inside twenty minutes of our prediction.
