Portimonense beat Vizela 2:0 in the second round of the Liga Portugal 2 regular season on Sunday. Two goals in the second half took the visitors from sixth to seventh, matching their rivals on seven points after four games.
The early drama came at the 24th minute when L. Rocha received a yellow card and then a red card in the same burst of activity. Vizela were down to ten men for the rest of the match, though there was another red card recorded at 27 minutes and a third at 28 minutes for the same player. The match had barely started and one side was already fighting a numerical deficit.
Portimonense took the lead at 34 minutes through Edney Henrique. They worked the channels throughout, but Vizela's goalkeeper had nothing to do all evening—six shots on target, not a single one on target from the visitors. The hosts converted twice from nine attempts off target alone.
Substitutions came thick and fast after the break. Angel Bastunov was brought on at 32 minutes, Thio at 46, and then a flurry at 56 and 57 minutes included G. Bamba, R. Ramos, Karamoko Bamba, and Yassin Fortune. Danio Djassi joined at 62, followed by João Casimiro and Duda at 70. By then the game was effectively over.
Yanis da Rocha added a second goal at 73 minutes. He was one of four changes at the end—Edney, Mamede at 86, and Mamede again at 87. Portimonense finished with 81 attacks and 11 free kicks against Vizela's 17.
Both sides now sit on seven points. Portimonense drop to seventh while Vizela fall from sixth. The gap remains zero between them, and the table says nothing yet beyond that.
