Spartak Moscow terminate Evgeni Svechnikov's contract

Spartak Moscow have released forward Evgeni Svechnikov without giving a reason, after the 29-year-old scored 16 points in 34 games last season.

Spartak Moscow have terminated the contract of forward Evgeni Svechnikov, the KHL club's press office announced on 4 September.

No reason was given for the split.

The 29-year-old made 34 appearances for Spartak last season and finished with 16 points, on eight goals and eight assists.

Before joining Spartak, Svechnikov spent several seasons in the NHL with Detroit, Carolina and Arizona, playing 172 games and recording 45 points, 20 goals and 25 assists.
