Barys Rout Sibir 7:1 as Lyuzenkov Slams Team

Sibirsk have lost both matches to open the FONBET KHL season, and this one turned into a rout. Barys beat them 7:1, with Vsevolod Logvin opening the scoring in the 13th minute and Garrett Pilon adding the seventh in the 47th. Daniil Valitov got Sibir's only goal in the 54th minute.

Head coach Yaroslav Lyuzenkov made no attempt to single out individuals afterwards, least of all Evgeni Kuznetsov, whose quiet night had prompted the question.

The defeat follows a 3:4 shootout loss to Ak Bars in the opening round, meaning Lyuzenkov's side have nothing to show from two games. Barys, for their part, sit fourth in the table without having accumulated points from prior fixtures on the board yet either, this scoreline aside. The club has been in flux off the ice too: forward Emil Galimov, 34 and with 643 KHL games behind him, left Barys for Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the VHL this week in search of regular ice time — a reminder that the roster producing Saturday's rout is still settling.

For Sibir, the alarm is less the scoreline than the finishing: Lyuzenkov noted his side had chances in the first period and failed to convert while conceding at the other end, leaving nothing to build on. Two rounds in, that pattern is what he will need to fix before it hardens into a habit.
