Larionov hails SKA character after win over Lada
SKA coach Igor Larionov praised his players' resilience following a 2:1 overtime win, with a quick turnaround before facing Spartak.
"Another dramatic match in Saint Petersburg against a difficult side. We did not expect an easy game — after an emotional contest it is always hard. But we had to leave everything from Monday behind and dig deep to do the job properly. Not everything worked. The first period was average in quality and movement, in the second period we came alive. On the whole, a win is a win. I thanked the lads for their character, it was not a straightforward game, they defend deep, and it is difficult to play against sides like that. A very important win, we do not have much time to enjoy it. Less than 20 hours until the next match in Moscow, all thoughts are already on Thursday's game," said Larionov.
SKA now travel to face Spartak on 10 September.
