Boris Katchouk Gives Verdict on Russian Cuisine
Traktor forward Boris Katchouk says he loves pelmeni, kotlety and syrniki but isn't a fan of borscht, ahead of facing champions Lokomotiv.
Boris Katchouk has settled into life in Chelyabinsk with a verdict on the local menu: pelmeni and kotlety are in, borscht is not.
The Canadian forward, who joined Traktor this summer, was asked about Russian food and gave a straight answer.
"As for Russian food, I really like pelmeni and kotlety. Have I tried syrniki? Yes, and I liked that too. Very tasty dish. I tried borscht as well, but I would not say it is my favourite. Prices? Well, it varies: some things are cheap, some can be expensive. It all depends on what exactly you are buying and what your needs are. Overall, the prices are absolutely acceptable. Is Chelyabinsk a hockey city? I cannot say for certain yet, since we have not played a single home game. But I have heard a lot of positive comments — about the fans, about the atmosphere at the arena — so I am looking forward to the next match. Especially since we are playing Lokomotiv, the reigning champions, and we need to pay them back for the first match in Yaroslavl," Katchouk said.
Traktor face Lokomotiv having already met the champions once this season, in Yaroslavl, a result Katchouk wants to avenge. The Chelyabinsk side are yet to play in front of their own fans this campaign.
