Dynamo rally from 0-2 down to stun Admiral 3-2

Dynamo Moscow came back from 0-2 down to beat Admiral 3-2 on the road, their fourth straight win in the KHL regular season.

Admiral led after the first period. Anthony Camara put the hosts ahead in the 11th minute and Ivan Yanchenko made it 2-0 in the 14th. Then, in three minutes at the start of the second period, Dynamo scored three unanswered goals: Igor Martynov in the 22nd minute, Pavel Shen in the 23rd, and defenceman Sergei Zborovsky in the 24th.

Admiral head coach Oleg Bratash spoke about the collapse afterwards.

"If you take out those three minutes in which we lost the match, then Admiral, I believe, played at least no worse than our opponents. We were better in the statistics, in the play, and in the chances created. But you cannot allow breakdowns like that. A match can be lost even in one minute, and today we lost it in three," Bratash said.

Asked what happened at the start of the second period, he pointed to a lapse in concentration. "The first and third periods were largely Admiral's. There was clearly a loss of concentration. I don't know what caused it. Maybe the 2-0 score affected the players. We got back into the game after that, but we couldn't save the match. The reason was a loss of concentration," he said.

He credited the timeout called after the third goal against with steadying the side, though he pushed back on the idea it was called too late. "If you judge by the fact that we didn't concede again after that, then I suppose it helped. I wouldn't say it was too late. We had chances even playing six-on-six, we just couldn't take them," he said. On the balance between team play and individual errors, Bratash added: "Team play mostly consists of the individual actions of every player. Naturally we go over the mistakes, point them out, show them and explain how a player can and should act better in a given situation. That is daily work. That is our job."

Dynamo have eight points from six games and sit fifth in the Western Conference. Admiral have three points from five matches and are eighth in the Eastern Conference. On 19 September, Admiral host Severstal in Vladivostok while Dynamo travel to face Amur.
