Ovechkin Explains His View on Breaking Scoring Records
The Capitals star says whichever record stands will always be more valuable than the one that replaces it, and confirmed plans for a personal museum.
The Washington forward is the leading scorer in NHL regular-season history with 929 goals. Add the play-offs and the tally reaches 1,006, second only to Wayne Gretzky's 1,016.
Ovechkin also confirmed plans for a museum, to be housed in an academy currently under construction, where fans will be able to see his trophies and sticks. Asked which stick matters most, he pointed to the one used to break the record.
