Sidney Crosby has welcomed Evgeni Malkin's decision to sign a new one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins during the off-season. Malkin turned 40 in July and posted 61 points (19 goals, 42 assists) in 56 games last season.
"It was great news. He had a great year last year. I'm lucky to have played with him for so long. That's not something you can take for granted. I'm just grateful to have played with him for so long, and I'm really happy for him. Like I said, he had an incredible season. It was nice to see him get rewarded for it," Crosby said.
