AKM may not finish VHL season over financial problems
Sport-Express journalist Alexey Shevchenko says AKM could drop out of the Olimpbet VHL, with the funding gap threatening all Tula clubs in the system.
AKM may not complete the season in the Olimpbet VHL because of financial problems, according to Sport-Express journalist Alexey Shevchenko. The report was carried by Sports.ru.
Shevchenko said the difficulty extends beyond one team. "This concerns all Tula clubs of the system. The problem is that the regional administration is not fulfilling its obligations, and the main owner is unable to bear the whole financial burden in the current economic situation," he said.
AKM have 9 points from 6 games in the regular season and sit seventh in the table. The club's system also includes AKM-Junior and Akademiya Mikhailova in the MHL, and a sledge hockey team.
If the funding gap is not closed, this may mean more than a lost VHL fixture list. The junior sides and the sledge hockey team draw on the same system and the same owner, so a withdrawal at the top could reach them too.
