Briere: Michkov looks far more confident after working on himself
Flyers general manager Daniel Briere says Matvei Michkov used the winter to work on himself, and that the effort showed late last season and in his confident look now.
Matvei Michkov posted a.912 save percentage in April, a result Philadelphia general manager Daniel Briere attributes to the player’s winter regimen.
"He decided, even though there wasn't much time [during the Olympic Games], to completely change what he had planned (just go on holiday and have fun) and to focus on his game, and that showed at the end of the season," Briere said. "I think psychologically it was useful for him to see: 'Hey, I took care of myself. Look what kind of impact I was able to make.' I think he came into the off-season with the same attitude – instead of 10 days he had three or four months. And that is exactly what you can see now in how he looks, and in how much more confident he looks now compared with two years ago."
