Quinn Hughes Can Name His Own Terms to Stay With Wild
Insider Michael Russo says Minnesota's Bill Guerin will agree to any term and salary Quinn Hughes asks for, up to the NHL maximum of $20.8 million a year.
Quinn Hughes can name his own term and salary if he decides to stay with the Minnesota Wild, according to insider Michael Russo.
"Quinn Hughes will name the term and the amount, and [Wild general manager] Bill Guerin will say 'yes'. There will be no negotiations. If he wants a deal for 3 seasons at $20.8 million a year, he will get it," Russo said on the Fellowship of the Rink programme.
The figure of $20.8 million is the maximum possible salary under the NHL's current cap of $104 million. The 26-year-old American defenceman has been eligible to sign a new contract with the club since 1 July. He has one season left on a deal with an average annual value of $7.85 million.
