Devils Beat Rangers in Pre-Season Clash

New Jersey defeated the Rangers 3:2 at home, with Hischier, Meier and Hughes scoring before the rivals meet again in New York on 25 September.

New Jersey beat the Rangers 3:2 at home in a pre-season NHL fixture.

Nico Hischier opened the scoring for the Devils in the 32nd minute. Timo Meier added a second in the 40th, and Jack Hughes settled it in the 59th.

The Rangers replied through forward Anton Blidh in the 37th minute and defenceman Drew Fortescue in the 48th, but could not find an equaliser.

The two sides meet again in New York in the early hours of 25 September. Before then, the Rangers host the Islanders on 23 September.
