Boucher: Avangard Has Half the Squad Injured
After a 1:5 loss to Torpedo, Avangard's coach says half his roster is hurt and the team has now dropped three straight KHL games.
Avangard have lost three in a row after a 1:5 defeat away to Torpedo in the FONBET KHL Championship, and head coach Guy Boucher said the injury list is now half the squad.
"We have half the team injured, and today there were a lot of players who played with active injuries. It's a hellish situation, in which every player is giving his maximum. No one is expected to return from the treatment room any time soon."
Asked afterwards what he could say about the game itself, Boucher was brief.
"I don't have much to say about the game. My words ran out during the match. So there isn't much to add here."
He did not put the result down to fitness problems alone.
"It's not just about the injuries — there are other reasons too. The game didn't come together for us from the very start."
Avangard sit eighth in the Eastern Conference with 6 points from 7 matches. Boucher said none of the injured players is likely to be back soon.
