Morgan Rielly: Toronto Is My Home
The Maple Leafs defenceman addressed offseason trade rumours, saying he wants to stay in Toronto as long as possible ahead of the new season.
Morgan Rielly says he wants to stay with the Toronto Maple Leafs for as long as possible, calling the club his home after speculation linked the defenceman with a move before the season.
"It's not some deep, thought-out answer. I just love this team. Whatever the difficulties and challenges are, I think the pluses and the opportunities outweigh them. I'm very fortunate to play for the Maple Leafs, and I want to stay with the team for as long as possible. I'm really happy and grateful to be here right now. This is my home. This is the team that I love and that I'd do anything for. So I'm very happy to be here and looking forward to the start of the season," Rielly said.
Reports earlier had suggested the Maple Leafs could look to trade the defenceman before the campaign got under way.
That has not happened, and Rielly remains part of Toronto's roster heading into the new season.
