Rangers forward Adam Sikora out 4-5 months with lower-body injury
Adam Sikora hurt his lower body in a pre-season loss to New Jersey and will miss 4-5 months, likely returning around the turn of the year for the Rangers.
Adam Sikora, the New York Rangers forward, will miss 4-5 months with a lower-body injury suffered in Monday's pre-season game against New Jersey, which the Rangers lost 2-3.
The 22-year-old was hurt in the first period. Battling in the corner, he lost his balance and was caught by a hit from Devils defenceman Mikael Diotte. Sikora fell awkwardly against the boards and needed help to leave the ice.
He made his NHL debut last season and scored 4 points (3+1) in 11 games. He also played 62 games for the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL, with 29 points (12+17).
The Rangers open the regular season against Boston on 30 September.
If the 4-5 month estimate holds, Sikora would be back somewhere around the turn of the year, and his second NHL season would start well into the campaign.
