Fantilli ready to sign with Columbus, term is the sticking point
Insider Pierre LeBrun says the restricted free agent wants 4-5 years while Columbus has cut its offer from 7 years to 6, leaving a gap of one to two years.
Adam Fantilli is willing to sign with Columbus, but the two sides are one to two years apart on the length of the deal, according to the insider Pierre LeBrun. The 21-year-old forward is a restricted free agent and has no contract for the coming season.
"As I understand the situation, Fantilli is ready to sign a contract, but he would prefer a deal of 4-5 years, whereas Columbus initially counted on 7 years and now on 6," LeBrun said.
Columbus has therefore come down by a year. Fantilli's preferred term has not moved in the reports.
Last regular season he played all 82 games and scored 59 points (24+35), with a plus-minus of minus 13.
If the gap stays at one year at the top of his range, this may come down to a compromise on term rather than a dispute over whether he signs.
