Avangard have signed defenceman Yevgeni Kashnikov to a try-out contract running until 24 October, with the club citing 11 injuries in the squad, four of them defencemen.
The 23-year-old, a product of Moscow hockey, has 180 KHL games to his name and 22 points (5+17). Under the try-out deal he can play no more than three matches for Avangard. He will wear number 25.
The Omsk club's statement read: "The 23-year-old, a product of Moscow hockey, has 180 games and 22 points (5+17) to his name in the KHL. Over the course of the try-out agreement the player may appear in no more than three games for the team. In the 'Hawks' squad the defenceman will wear number 25. We wish Yevgeni luck in the games ahead."
Kashnikov spent last season in the Fonbet KHL Championship with Neftekhimik and Avtomobilist.
