Calgary signed Alexander Nylander to a one-year, two-way contract after a tryout, following his Calder Cup title with the Toronto Marlies last season.
Calgary have signed Alexander Nylander to a one-year, two-way contract after a spell with the club on a tryout. The deal pays 850,000 dollars at NHL level and 200,000 dollars in the AHL, with a guaranteed minimum of 250,000 dollars for the season.
Nylander, 28, spent last season with the Toronto Marlies, where he won the Calder Cup. He put up 53 points (24 goals, 29 assists) in 65 regular-season games, then added 7 points (6+1) in 24 playoff matches. The Marlies, founded in 2005 and based at the 8,500-capacity Coca-Cola Coliseum, currently sit fourth in the AHL after 72 games this term, still without a point.
His NHL career totals 126 regular-season appearances and 49 points (25+24). In the AHL he has played 459 games for 307 points (141+166). Buffalo took him 8th overall at the 2016 draft. He is the younger brother of Toronto forward William Nylander.
