Severstal coach Kozyrev: win over Sochi came on character
Andrei Kozyrev called the 3:1 home win over Sochi in the KHL hard but vital, and said promising new signing Chaly from Lokomotiv will get ice time.
Severstal beat Sochi 3:1 at home in the Fonbet KHL Championship. Head coach Andrei Kozyrev said the win came on character.
"It was a hard game for us," Kozyrev said. "There were things that did not work, but the win is very important. We won on character, which is very pleasing."
Asked whether a role had been settled for Chaly, Kozyrev said Severstal had acquired the player from Lokomotiv and that he was flying in that day. "He is a promising young player and will get ice time," the coach said.
If that holds, Chaly may be in the lineup before long. Kozyrev did not say when.
