Celebrini Leads Hart Trophy Race in Athletic Poll
The Athletic's 29-writer poll makes San Jose's Celebrini the top Hart Trophy pick, ahead of McDavid, MacKinnon, Barkov, Kaprizov and Draisaitl.
The Athletic has polled 29 of its writers ahead of the NHL season on the Hart Trophy race, and Macklin Celebrini comes out well clear of the field.
The San Jose centre took 41.4% of the vote. Connor McDavid of Edmonton was next on 24.1%, with Colorado's Nathan MacKinnon third on 20.7%.
Florida's Aleksander Barkov followed on 6.9%. Minnesota's Kirill Kaprizov and Edmonton's Leon Draisaitl tied for fifth, each on 3.4%.
The Hart Trophy goes to the player judged most valuable to his team through the regular season. Celebrini, still only 19, is being backed to carry that tag into just his second full campaign in the league.
