The Sharks forward says growing NHL interest is lifting pay for owners and players alike, days after Cale Makar became the league's top earner.
Macklin Celebrini has weighed in on the rising pay scale in the NHL, days after Cale Makar became the league's highest-paid player.
The 20-year-old San Jose forward signed a new five-year deal in July worth $18.8m a season. In August, the 27-year-old Colorado defenceman agreed a contract worth $20.4m a year, a deal that kicks in a season from now.
"Hockey is in some ways in the shadow of other sports when it comes to player salaries and things like that. But thanks to the growing attention and interest in the NHL, and wider media coverage of the league, I think things are moving in the right direction: club owners are earning more money, and players are earning more too. That is good for everyone," Celebrini said.
